New Super 8mm camera launches – meet Logmar’s GENTOO GS8

As a Super 8mm camera expert for hire it seems that new Super 8mm cameras are a bit like busses – you wait ages and then two come along at once!

After the recent news that Kodak are forging ahead with their new super 8mm camera (after endless delays) it’s an even greater joy to see the guys at Logmar announcing the imminent release of a behemoth of a Super 8mm camera with the all new (pro quality) Gentoo GS8

New Super 8mm camera from Logmar

The Gentoo comes with a hefty price tag and is aimed mainly at rental houses who want a 16mm quality Super 8mm camera – that gains advantage from the easy to use Super 8mm cartridge system.

Priced at 5,000 Euro – which is around £4,200 its hefty price tag is WITHOUT lenses – it looks like the camera will be happy with C mount lenses – but even then you’d need to check with Logmar themselves who may want to calibrate camera body and lenses.

The guys in Denmark know their bacon – so head over to the Logmar website for more info.  What’s for sure – is that its turning into a great time for Super 8mm again.
